banalities of life

01 Oct

I’ve been mending reusable shopping bags. I know. You’d think there’d come a point where you’d reckon enough is enough and out they’d go but when it’s just a bit of stitching that’s come adrift, the urge to fix it is overwhelming. Also, Dr B asked if I would!

I have also been knitting and am a little over three inches along with the White Caps Cowl.

You are right it is so easy to mend a few stitches here or there. I just realized I’ve been mending those cheap plastic/fabric green bags over and over, all the while dreaming of making some gorgeous 100% natural fibre fabric bags from colours I love that would last sooo much longer. Lol

We could get into serious discussion about how sustainable those bags actually are (I mean, they’re plastic, even if they’re sturdier, “friendlier” plastic than the sort you can use in rubbish bins) and just when we should call it quits with trying to make them last forever; but, yes, I think that making some shopping bags is a good option. I have been known to repurpose old flour bags with some new herringbone tape for handles. Rice bags with zippers are good for the purposes as well.
